Carlos Miguel Cruz

Partner, Government Relations

Tallahassee, Jacksonville

Carlos Cruz concentrates his practice on representing clients before the legislative and executive branches of Florida government. Carlos also offers corporate and crisis communications services.

Carlos’ role in policymaking started while he was in college, and in the years since he has developed an impressive arsenal of communication and advocacy skills. Carlos’s clients prize his personal commitment to their success and the deep relationships he maintains in Florida political circles.

Carlos began his career as a legislative assistant for the President Pro-Tempore of the Florida Senate. Following his tenure in the Florida Senate, he served as a member of the executive team of Florida’s elected, Cabinet-level Agricultural Commissioner. As the youngest member of the Commissioner’s executive staff, Carlos used his multicultural experience to enable the department to communicate Florida’s agricultural importance in the developing markets of Latin America and the Caribbean. Carlos’s years of public service gave him a solid foundation to advocate broadly on local, state and national policy issues.

Since turning to representation of private sector clients, Carlos has earned a reputation as an aggressive, informed advocate that creates winning solutions for his clients. As a result, Carlos regularly represents prominent national and regional clients in areas including agriculture, telecommunications, energy/utilities, healthcare/pharmacy, insurance, business services and association advocacy.

Carlos maintains the confidence of numerous candidates and policymakers who rely on his experience and strategic skill for advice on politics, public relations and policy trends. Carlos is also an accomplished speaker who is frequently invited to educate executives and future policymakers on the processes of government, advocacy and communications.

In addition to government affairs, Carlos offers crisis management services, assisting clients and their public relations teams with message development and corporate communications. He maintains an emphasis on Hispanic market communications, offering Spanish-English bilingual capability.

Carlos was born in Miami, Florida and, when not in the Capitol in Tallahassee, resides in Jacksonville with his wife, Ryane, and two sons. He has braved the adventure of family RV vacationing and enjoyed every road warrior minute of it.
